Supervizuelna u studiju – DEA DŽANKOVIĆ
Ovom prilikom, Supervizuelna u studiju je posetila životni i radni prostor umetnice Dee Džanković, koji deli sa Godrikom, Šerlokom i Evom. Razgovarale smo o njenim umetničkim projektima koji obrađuju različite teme, od transgeneracijskih trauma, pregorevanja (burnouta) do nestajućeg koncepta kafana. Dea nam je pokazivala i svoj kafanski tarot, pričala o hemijskom sastavu suza, lažnim kristalima i lažnim brendovima. U videu su prikazani delovi Deinog performansa Burn/Out koji je izveden u saradnji sa preko 100 žena na tri lokacije u Beogradu, kao i poslednji primerak Suzovače koji se nalazi u vlasništvu umetnice, rakiju napravljenu od njenih suza. Na kraju nas je povela u šetnju, objašnjavajući svoj flanerski način rada koji je usko vezan za prostor grada i ulice. On this occasion, Supervizuelna in the Studio visited the living and working space of artist Dea Džanković. We talked about her art projects, which explore a range of topics — from transgenerational trauma and burnout to the disappearing concept of the kafana. Dea also showed us her kafana tarot, spoke about the chemical composition of tears, fake crystals, and fake brands. The video features segments from Dea’s performance Burn/Out, which was carried out in collaboration with over 100 women at three locations in Belgrade. It also shows the last remaining bottle of Suzovača in her possesion, rakija made from her own tears. She ended the visit by taking us on a walk, explaining her flâneur-like working method, which is closely tied to the urban space and the streets. Dea Džanković je interdisciplinarna umetnica sa sedištem u Beogradu. Diplomirala je na smeru za Produkciju medija i umetnosti na Akademiji umetnosti u Beogradu 2014. godine, a zatim je stekla dva mastera iz vizuelnih umetnosti – prvi na Univerzitetu Sabanci u Istanbulu 2016. godine, i drugi na Fakultetu likovnih umetnosti u Beogradu. 2022. godine, bila je finalistkinja Nagrade Mangelos i postala članica sekcije za nove medije ULUS-a.
Njena umetnička praksa obuhvata različite medije, uključujući performans, instalaciju, fotografiju, filmsku produkciju, muziku i tekst. Njena dela inspirisana su društvenim uslovljavanjima, tabuima i ograničenjima njenog okruženja, istražujući efekte društvenog uslovljavanja na individualnu i kolektivnu psihu. Cilj njene prakse je da uključi posmatrača u transformativno iskustvo, omogućavajući im da se na ličnom nivou angažuju sa delom kreirajući prostore za intervenciju, gde se može izložiti, ispitati i, nadamo se, prevazići nametnuto uslovljavanje.

Dea Džanković is an interdisciplinary artist based in Belgrade. She graduated with a degree in Media and Arts Production from the Academy of Arts in Belgrade in 2014 and later earned two master’s degrees in visual arts, one from Sabancı University in Istanbul in 2016 and the other from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade. In 2022, she was a finalist for the Mangelos Award and became a member of the New Media section of ULUS (Association of Fine Artists of Serbia).
Her artistic practice spans various media including performance, installation, photography, film production, music, and text. Her work is inspired by societal conditioning, taboos, and the limitations of her environment, exploring the effects of such conditioning on both individual and collective psyches. The goal of her practice is to engage the viewer in a transformative experience, enabling them to connect with the work on a personal level by creating spaces for intervention where imposed conditioning can be exposed, examined, and hopefully overcome.
